<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a tow prepreg that causes little reverse, deviation of width, and fluffing of carbon fiber upon unwinding of the tow prepreg wound into a package and further that has a high utilization rate of strength when made into a carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and such a tow prepreg. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a tow prepreg includes the steps of: unwinding carbon fiber thread from a carbon fiber package having a number of reversed thread of 5 pieces/1,000 m or less upon unwinding measured by the method described in the specification and passing the thread through a thread position controlling guide; twisting the thread at an angle of 60-120° in the width direction and introducing the thread into a fiber bundle shaping guide; impregnating the thread with a resin by introducing the thread into a kiss roll impregnation part; controlling the width of the thread to a predetermined width by a width controlling roll; drawing the thread at a constant rate by a drawing device; and winding the thread at a lead angle of 1.5-13° by a bobbin traverse winding machine, and the steps are successively performed in this order. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
