STEEL COMPONENT, SINGLE-CYLINDER INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, SADDLED VEHICLE, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE STEEL COMPONENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel component in which the occurrence of flaking on a surface thereof that is in contact with a rolling bearing can be prevented and which has an excellent flaking life; and to provide a method for manufacturing the steel component.

SOLUTION: This steel component has a surface that is in contact with a rolling bearing. In the steel component, the amount of retained austenite is 50 vol% or more and the Vickers hardness (HV) is 710 or more at a depth of 0.1 mm from the surface. The steel component is subjected to carburizing and nitriding processing or carburizing processing and nitriding processing to enhancing fatigue strength.
