<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for processing COS in a formed gas, which can detect the situation of the COS concentration in a formed gas in real time, and can rapidly take a handling measure. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises: a first COS converter 13A having a COS catalyst to process a formed gas 12 containing COS; a laser analyzer 15A, installed upstream of the first COS converter 13A, for measuring the COS concentration in the formed gas; a flow-path switching means 19 to switch a flow-path of the formed gas from a main flow-path L<SB POS="POST">1</SB>to a bypass flow-path L<SB POS="POST">2</SB>when the COS concentration exceeds a threshold value as a result of the measurement of the laser analyzer 15A; a second COS converter 13B, installed on the midway of the bypass flow-path L<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, for processing the formed gas 12 containing COS; and a controller 20 to switch the flow-path switching means 19 to the bypass flow-path L<SB POS="POST">2</SB>when the determined COS concentration exceeds the threshold value, and control to process the unconverted COS in the second COS converter 13B. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
