The operating device (1) has sensor surface (2) and sensor device (3) that are arranged, such that a signal is generated during contact of sensor surface by a finger (5) of the user and/or close proximity of finger with sensor surface. The sensor surface is provided with predefined resolution, so that finger of palm (4) of the user is distinguished and/or the space proximity to sensor surface is tracked.
