The lens i.e. hemispherical gradient index lens (4), has a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) mirror device (6) arranged at a flat underside (5) of the lens, where the mirror device comprises a reflecting surface (7). A light beam (L) of a semiconductor light source (2) i.e. LED, of a projection device (1) strikes on a spherical shell-shaped top surface (3) of the lens, where the lens has ball-cut-like base shape. The underside of the lens comprises a partially non-planar concave surface, where the lens exhibits a refraction index. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a projection device (2) a method for projecting light.
