ENZYME GENE FOR ADDING SUGAR CHAIN ORIGINATED FROM TOBACCO AND SUPPRESSION OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polypeptide including O-bound type galactose using a transformant by a gene obtained by cloning a serine-galactose transferase (SGT) gene originated from tobacco which is a general transformant host, a method for suppressing the expression of the gene, and a method for producing a protein being useful for humans by suppressing addition of the O-bound type sugar chain in transformant tobacco plants.

SOLUTION: There are provided an O-bound type galactose addition method using the transformant by a gene obtained by cloning a gene encoding the serine O-bound type galactose transferase including a specific amino acid sequence from tobacco, and a method for suppressing the addition of the O-bound type sugar chain in transformant tobacco plants by suppressing expression of the gene.
