<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a programmable display unit for maintaining the matching of versions about picture data and an operating software group, and for performing backup processing and restore processing with high convenience. <P>SOLUTION: The programmable display unit includes: a display part 11 with an input function; and a backup/restore processing part 13 for executing backup processing of transferring picture data and an operating software group from the start system holder of an incorporated flash ROM 16 to the backup holder of an external storage medium 30 and restore processing of transferring the picture data and the operating software group from the backup holder to the start system holder.
