A drive assist apparatus for performing drive assist in a predetermined section including a slope is provided with: an average slope information acquisition means for acquiring average slope information in the predetermined section; a travel status information acquisition means for acquiring travel status information of a vehicle; and a slope estimation means for estimating the slope at an arbitrary point in the predetermined section or an average slope of an arbitrary section in the predetermined section on the basis of the average slope information acquired by the average slope information acquisition means and the travel status information of the vehicle acquired by the travel status information acquisition means, and characterized in that the drive assist is performed in the predetermined section by using the slope estimated by the slope estimation means. This configuration enables the slope at the arbitrary point or of the arbitrary section in the predetermined section to be highly accurately estimated, so that the drive assist can be performed more appropriately by using the estimated, highly accurate slope.
