Class 120(iii) [Also in Group XXV] In connecting or splicing two ends of twisted products 1 and 2 such as yarns, ropes, cords, strings, consisting of two or more primary threads or elements twisted around each other, the ends 7-7, 8-8 are so brought together in opposite directions that they overlap, after which, starting from a point A, one end 7-7 is passed more than once and in one direction between the elements 5, 6, of the other end 8-8 and the said other end 8-8 is passed more than once in opposite direction between the elements 3, 4, of the first end. The process may be applied to products consisting of continuous filaments or staple fibres of viscose rayon, a polyamide, or a polyacrylonitrile, or to yarn comprising short fibres such as cotton, wool, or -linen. Splicing may be effected by means of a loose needle or a rod provided with an eye, or by a needle 9, having an oblong hole 10 and a thin extension 11, which is supported in vertical position by a support 12 and the ends and its elements manipulated relative thereto.</p> |
