<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive for hydraulic material with a high versatility, which shows an excellent crack suppressive function. <P>SOLUTION: The additive for hydraulic material includes compound (B) shown by general formula (1). In general formula (1), R1 and R2 each independently show a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group of 1-6 carbon atoms, or a hydroxyalkyl group of 1-6 carbon atoms, R3 shows a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group of 1-6 carbon atoms, or -(CH2)k-O-R4, and k is an integer of 1-4, and R4 shows an alkyl group of 1-6 carbon atoms.
