<p>A transformer based voltage-optimization device configured for use as a component of an electrical circuit that is associated with an electrical power supply, a load and a bypass switch connection, the voltage optimization device comprising a transformer comprising a control winding, an electrical power input means and a transformer tap, the voltage optimization device characterized by further comprising a control means configured to control the voltage potential across said transformer wherein the control means is configured to substantially equalize the voltage and the associated phase angle of the voltage across the transformer in order to limit the voltage potential across the control winding before disconnecting the transformer from the power supply.</p> |
