<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize a provided band by improving the response time of a flow of small size, without impairing the communication quality of giant-size flow. <P>SOLUTION: A border node located at the entrance of communication network supplies a permission rate to each of flows, and tags a packet that is transferred exceeding the permission rate. The permission rate of each flow is set to be the initial rate, at communication start. Then, the rate is decreased, according to duration time of flow and transfer amount of packet. An internal node discards a tagged packet by priority, when a network is congested, thus an enormous flow is controlled which transfers at a high rate for extended hours. Here, a management server changes the initial rate dynamically using the traffic information measured and collected in the network. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
