The device has a holding element (4) including base parts (6a, 6b) for holding two oppositely arranged contact elements (12, 14) of a light socket i.e. R7S socket, so that the contact elements retain an elongate lamp. The contact elements are arranged in continuation of a longitudinal axis through another light socket i.e. male B15D light socket (2). The holding element has a connecting structure provided with two struts (8, 10). The structure is surrounded by a removable transparent cover and formed as a translucent tube, so that one of the base-parts is releasably connected with the tube.
