The method involves providing a cylindrical ring (16) as a sleeve with front and rear circumferential edges in axial direction and a lateral surface that is formed between axial edges. The cylindrical ring is arranged in a die (12) such that the ring is temporarily supported in a region of the edges. The ring is shaped into a profiled ring in continuous manner along circumference of the ring in sections by exerting pressure in radial direction (R) by a profiling element (14). The profiling element and the die are rotated and/or moved linearly relative to each other. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for post-processing a profiled ring (2) a shaping device for executing a method for producing a profiled ring.
