<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for a battery having high heat resistance, a method for manufacturing the separator for a battery, a battery, a battery pack, and an electronic device. <P>SOLUTION: The separator for a battery has a first face and a second face opposite to the first face, and comprises a porous substrate 130 containing pores running from the first face to the second face, and a heat-resistant layer 131 composed of an inorganic material, covering at least the first face and the surfaces surrounding the pores, and deposited by atomic layer deposition. The separator for a battery is provided with the heat-resistant layer by atomic layer deposition so that the heat-resistant layer is formed not only on the face of the substrate but also on the surfaces surrounding the pores in the substrate. Thus the separator has higher heat resistance than separators having the heat-resistant layer only on the face of the substrate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
