The system has pedals (1, 4) provided with respective tread surfaces (2, 5) and sensors. The pedals are swung around a common axis (7). The sensors generate signals when the pedals are operated. An evaluation unit (8) evaluates the signals. One of the tread surfaces is formed directly adjacent to other tread surface, where the surfaces are different from each other. Longitudinal axes of the tread surfaces are at an angle in a range of 18 to 22 degrees with respect to each other. The tread surfaces form a total tread surface (11) with width of 17 cm.
