The drive shaft hinge unit (10) has two hinges (11,12) that are axially displaced against each other, where the latter hinge has an expansion element (13). The expansion element is provided for deforming a part of the former hinge for plunging a part of the latter hinge, during a crash. The expansion element is formed dimensionally stable in comparison to the deformed part of the former hinge, where the expansion element for the deformation of the hinge part is provided to increase the diameter of the hinge part.
