PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of interrupting compound operation, i.e. interrupting molding operation for solving "resin sagging" or "stringing" caused by a mold opened during a measurement process in molding performed by using the mold with a hot runner but without a valve gate in the compound operation which is common in these days and in which a mold opening process is started in the middle of the measuring process in order to reduce molding cycle time. SOLUTION: In an operation method of an injection molding machine, when an injection and pressure holding process is finished, the cooling process and a measurement processes are simultaneously started. If the cooling process is finished before the measurement process, rotation of a screw is stopped, and a shutoff valve is opened to turn the screw retreated (such back) in a predetermined distance and to keep the shutoff valve closed.
