PURPOSE: A forward error correction system based on high-performance concatenated BCH(Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghen) and a correction method thereof are provided to compensate for errors generated in a channel by using forward error correction using a concatenated BCH code. CONSTITUTION: Initial source data is encoded in a BCH outer encoder(310) of 8 channels. A parity generated is saved in a designated location of each OTU4 frame. Encoded data is interleaved in an interleaver(350). The interleaved data is re-encoded in a BCH inner encoder(320) of 32 channels. Concatenated encoded codes are transmitted along a transmission path(380). A reception terminal decodes in an exact reverse order. Corrected source data is obtained from the output of the BCH outer decoder(340).
