The bulb (1) has an elongate hollow body (1a) comprising interior volume (1f) and a proximal opening (1g), where an opaque coaxial base plate (3) is provided at a base of the hollow body to seal the opening. A light diffusing unit (7) comprises a hemispherical cap (7a) arranged adjacent to the opening in the hollow body. The diffusing unit transmits light emitted from a light emitting plate, into the hollow body after passing through a wall (1e) of the hollow body, where spectrum of the light is similar to that of a candle flame.
