The trailer (10) has a closed lower compartment (12) for receiving total number of batteries (16), and a single self-directional central wheel (18) pivoted around a vertical axis. A connecting device connects the trailer to an urban electric vehicle (1) to supply power to an electric traction system of the vehicle from the batteries. A fixing unit fixes some of the total batteries. A connection unit connects the batteries to the connecting device. An upper compartment (14) is arranged at top of the closed lower compartment for receiving luggage. An independent claim is also included for a method for utilizing a road trailer.
