A liquid crystal monitor according to the present invention is provided with a liquid crystal panel (5) which has liquid crystal elements arranged on each intersection point between a plurality of data lines (N) and a plurality of scanning lines (M), which are wired in matrix form; liquid crystal vertical direction control circuits (21, 22, 23, 24) which are provided in each of a plurality of data line groups into which a plurality of data lines are divided and supply image data to the data line in the data line group; liquid crystal horizontal direction control circuits (31, 32, 33) which are provided in each of a plurality of scanning line groups into which a plurality of scanning lines are divided and write the pixel data in the data line into a liquid crystal element by driving the scanning line in the scanning line group; and light source blocks (61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72) which are provided in each of a plurality of liquid crystal panel blocks (41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52) into which the liquid crystal panel is segmented and radiate light onto the liquid crystal panel blocks.
