PROFILE CREATION METHOD, PROFILE CREATION APPARATUS, IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING COLOR CONVERSION USING PROFILE, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize excellent color reproduction while maintaining the gradation of lightness and chroma in an input color space in a color conversion table creation method for converting an input color space (input color gamut) to an output color space (output color gamut) of output means.

SOLUTION: When an input color gamut is compressed to an output color gamut, based on a difference value between the lightness of paper white and the lightness at the maximum chroma in the output color gamut at a predetermined hue, if the lightness difference is below a predetermined threshold value, a compression convergence point is set so as to have the lightness at the maximum chroma in the output color gamut or less. This suppresses reduction of the gradation in a chroma direction of an input, and enables compression of the input color gamut to the output color gamut so that excellent color reproduction is realized.
