A system and method for facilitating simulation of a biological process within a network including a plurality of nodes is disclosed herein. The method includes receiving, at a first of the plurality of nodes, processing results generated at a second of the plurality of nodes. The method further includes performing, with respect to at least the processing results, a function related to the simulation of the biological process and thereby generating additional processing results. In addition, the method includes sending the additional processing results to a third of the plurality of nodes.
