[Problem] To shorten the time needed to completely receive a photoacoustic signal and ultrasonic signal in a tomographic image generation device. [Solution] A trigger control circuit (28) outputs a light trigger signal and causes a subject to be irradiated with light. A sampling control circuit (29) outputs a sampling trigger signal. An A/D converting means (22) begins to sample a photoacoustic signal and stores the sampled photoacoustic signal in a reception memory (23). The trigger control circuit (28) outputs an ultrasonic trigger signal while the A/D converting means (22) continues sampling, and causes an ultrasonic wave to be sent to the subject. The A/D converting means (22) samples the reflective acoustic signal in connection with the photoacoustic signal, and stores the sampled reflective acoustic signal in the reception memory (23). A photoacoustic image generating means (25) and an ultrasonic image generating means (26) generate a photoacoustic image and an ultrasonic image on the basis of the data stored in the reception memory (23). |
