<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent headphone device which reproduces 2-channel sound signals. <P>SOLUTION: Left and right channel sound reproduction units 106L and 106R are composed of a speaker array. The sound reproduction units each have a structure disposed apart from the auricle of a wearer (listener). Sounds formed by sound signals output from respective speakers of the speaker array can have their focal points converged on prescribed positions to synthesize virtual sound sources at the positions. The focal point converged positions are made the entrances to the external auditory canals of the listener, whereby effects of variations due to individual difference are reduced and, hence, stable acoustic characteristics can be provided. Furthermore, the focal point converged positions can be located between the speaker array and the entrances to the external auditory canals, whereby the front localization of acoustic images can be improved. In addition, sounds formed by sound signals output from respective speakers of the speaker array can be turned to planar waves, making natural auditory localization possible, which helps to improve the reproducibility of low frequency sounds. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
