<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which can be prevented from falling down on a circuit board. <P>SOLUTION: A rear wall 38 is formed continuously to one side part of an upper wall 36. A pair of FOT retaining springs 42, a pair of fall-down preventing parts 43, and a pair of inward deformation preventing parts 44 are formed on the rear wall 38. A front wall 37 is formed continuously to the other side part of the upper wall 36. A pair of slits 41 and a partition 51 are formed on the front wall 37. Right and left side walls 39 are formed continuously to side parts of the front wall 37.
