The device has a vehicle seat (1) which is provided with a seat cushion (1.1), a seatback (1.2) and a headrest (1.3). An inflatable air bag is arranged within the seatback, with which the vehicle ahead, rear end collision or event of the rear end collision with pressurized gas is detected.
