The invention relates to a method for oxidising hydrogen, comprising mixing hydrogen, oxygen and at least one third component, and subsequently reacting hydrogen and oxygen. The invention is characterized in that the at least one third component is carbon dioxide, wherein the method further comprises the step of dividing at least part of said carbon dioxide into CO and 0 radical for controlling the reaction temperature.
