<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gallium-containing ink and a method for using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The gallium-containing ink includes: (a) a 1b-group/gallium/(occassionally, indium)/6a-group system containing, as initial components, a combination of a gallium component; a selenium component; an organic chalcogenide component; a 1b-group component; occasionally, a bidentate thiol component; and occasionally, an indium component; and (b) a liquid carrier component. The gallium component contains, as initial components, a stabilizing component, an additive and a gallium carrier, the organic chalcogenide component contains at least one organic chalcogenide having a formula selected from RZ-Z'R' and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>-SH, the 1b-group component contains at least one of CuCl<SB POS="POST">2</SB>and Cu<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O, and the stabilizing component is selected from the group consisting of 1,3-propanediol, β-mercaptoethanol, analogs thereof and mixtures thereof.
