<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device for reducing a load on a starter in starting an engine during traveling in a vehicle equipped with a manual transmission. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle control device includes the engine, the manual transmission having a clutch connecting or cutting off the transmission of power between the engine and drive wheels of the vehicle, and the starter connected to the engine when the engine is started by outputting power. When the clutch cuts off the transmission of power between the engine and the drive wheels (S4 negative), and engine start is requested during coasting with the engine stopped (S3), if vehicle speed and the change gear stage selected in the manual transmission are the vehicle speed and change gear stage having a small load to the starter (S7 negative), the vehicle control device permits starting the engine by the starter while the clutch connects the transmission of power between the engine and the drive wheels (S8). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
