<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gravure application device which prevents substrate film defacement, increases product quality, and reduces the cleaning time of the gravure application device, thereby improving productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The gravure application device 10 has at least a plate cylinder 1 and an impression cylinder 4. The roll width length L<SB POS="POST">2</SB>of the impression cylinder 4 is shorter than the roll width length L<SB POS="POST">1</SB>of the plate cylinder 1, and a doctor blade 2 is slidingly arranged along the width direction of the plate surface 11 of the plate cylinder 1 to scrape excessive ink 9 applied on the plate surface 11 of the plate cylinder 1.
