<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of a level difference on the surface of a photosensitive layer. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus performs: charging a paper-passing portion 501a at a potential V1 and a non-paper-passing portion 501b at a potential V2 before forming an image; when starting the image-forming, charging the surface of a photosensitive layer at a charging potential VH, where a discharge amount generated per unit area is smaller in the paper-passing portion 501a than in the non-paper-passing portion 501b in which the absolute value of the difference in potential with the charging potential VH is larger, causing a substantial amount of breakage in polymer main chain of the photosensitive layer, deteriorating its strength. When an image is formed in such state, the wear rate of the paper-passing portion 501a is increased by the paper dust of sheets in contact and also the wear rate of the non-paper-passing portion 501b is also increased, resulting from the deterioration of strength caused by the discharge at charging. As a result, the difference in the wear rate between the paper-passing portion 501a and non-paper-passing portion 501b is suppressed compared with the case of not performing the aforementioned charging before image-forming. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
