<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology that allows both position variation in a vertical direction (a second direction) and speed variation in a moving direction (a first direction) of an image carrier belt to be obtained. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: an image carrier belt 31 for carrying an image while moving in a first direction; a detecting part SC for detecting an end portion of the image carrier belt; a displacement part 56 for displacing the image carrier belt in a second direction perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the first direction; and a controlling part EC for calculating position variation of the image carrier belt in the second direction from a detection result of the detecting part, and for calculating speed variation of the image carrier belt in the first direction from the detection result of the detecting part outputted when the displacement part displaces the image carrier belt in the second direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
