<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of achieving comfortable steering feeling in the turning state of the steering. <P>SOLUTION: It is determined to be in a turning state when steering torque is equal to or above a predetermined value and the differential value of the steering torque is larger than zero or when the steering torque is equal to or below the predetermined value and the differential value of the steering torque is smaller than zero; otherwise, it is determined to be in a returning state.
