<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens having a small size, light weight, high resolution, and satisfactory optical performance, and to provide an optical device and a manufacturing method for the zoom lens. <P>SOLUTION: The zoom lens comprises, in order from the object side, a first lens group G1 having negative refractive power and a second lens group G2 having positive refractive power. The first lens group G1 includes, in order from the object side, a first negative meniscus lens whose convex face is oriented toward the object side, a negative lens, a second negative meniscus lens whose convex face is oriented toward the object side, and a positive lens.
