<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high-quality image recording even when ink reciprocating motion is switched. <P>SOLUTION: An inkjet printer includes: a transportation section which transports a recording medium; an ink head which discharges ink onto the transported recording medium for recording an image; a first ink reservoir section connected to the ink head through a first ink path; a second ink reservoir section connected to the ink head through a second ink path; a pressurizing/depressurizing means which pressurizes or depressurizes the insides of the first and second ink reservoir sections for switching the direction of ink flow between the first and second ink reservoir sections via the ink head; and a control section which controls the transportation section, the ink head, and the pressurizing/depressurizing means.
