<p>Disclosed are a method and system for distributing Peer to Peer (P2P) content. The method comprises: a tracker recording addresses of peers that have content/content segments or participate in content/content segment distribution, and whether each peer has a storage server in use; a second peer querying the tracker for a list of peers that have designated content/content segments or participate in designated content/content segment distribution, and the tracker returning the corresponding list, the list indicating whether each peer has a storage server in use; the second peer preferentially requesting the designated content/content segment from a first peer, having a storage server in use, in the list, and directly downloading the designated content/content segment from a first storage server to which the first peer uploads the content/content segment, or downloading the designated content/content segment from the first storage server through a second storage server. Through the present invention, the storage server is fully taken advantage of, so as to reduce the traffic and improve the quality of service.</p> |
