The device has two scanners (301, 302) placed on sides of a conveyor belt (41) and offset in relation to each other, to form a radar image of a portion of a person (42) facing the scanners. Each scanner has a microwave transmitter and a microwave receiver for transmitting digitized received signals to a computer, where a signal is emitted in the direction of the person, and velocity and a position of points of the person are calculated by the computer from the signals received by the receiver so as to form the radar image. The transmitter is connected to a microwave signal source.
