<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that achieves fixing at lower temperature to save energy consumption. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus applies fixing solution to a surface of a recording medium, forms a toner image on a toner image carrier, and transfers the toner image formed on the toner image carrier to an intermediate transfer body. The image forming apparatus brings the toner image on the intermediate transfer body into contact with the surface of the recording medium on which fixing solution is applied by fixing solution application means so as to transfer the toner image, and then heats the toner image and the fixing solution. The image forming apparatus prevents fixing solution containing plasticizer having a function of softening and swelling toner and fixing solution adhered to the intermediate transfer body from the surface of the recording medium from being adhered and fixed to the intermediate transfer body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
