The invention concerns a reactor for cell culture, in particular stem cells to differentiate into the muscle phenotype, which includes a culture chamber (4) where the cells an elastic scaffold (75 ). The latter undergoes cycles of extension and relaxation following the translation of a rod (50) controlled by a linear electric motor (5). The deformation and the force applied to the substrate can be controlled based on feedback control signals from the linear motor (5) or from a load cell (68) placed in the culture chamber (4): this allows to adapt the operation of the reactor to the growth of the cells on the scaffold (75).
