A foundation garment is provided with breast pockets each comprising outer and inner plies secured together by a spiral line of stitching extending from the centre to the periphery of the breast cup, the stitches being disposed at an oblique angle to the central projection of a spiral line. In Fig. 1 the spiral-forming stitches 12 are in zig-zag formation produced by parallel upper and lower threads 15, 16, Fig. 3, on the outer surfaces of adjacent materials 9, 10, the threads being interlocked at 17 between the materials. A modified form of spiral stitching consists of a continuous series of reversely arranged loops 24, 25, Fig. 8, effected by means of parallel upper and lower threads 21, 22 interlocked at 23. A further modification comprises a multiplicity of lines of spiral stitching overlying the outer facing ply and interlocked with a single bobbin thread overlying the inner lining ply, each line of stitching being in the form of a continuous series of reversely arranged loops and composed of stitches arranged parallel to the corresponding stitches of the other lines.
