<p>A brake unit (24) for use in a fall arrest block having a rotatable drum (26), the brake unit comprising a first part (29,80,84) which is adapted to be secured to a chassis (18) of the block, a second part (28) which can be locked to said rotating drum (26) when a fall is to be arrested, and friction surfaces (86,88) within the brake unit (24) which allow rotation between the first and second parts against the friction generated by the friction surfaces, characterised in that the brake unit is a sealed unit.</p> |
