The present invention refers to a labeling methodology for neurons, which combines simultaneously immunohistochemistry labeling for bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) with Golgi-Cox impregnation technique in neurons. With the methodology that composes the present invention, it is possible to determine the three-dimensional structure of the dendritic arborization, as well as the spine morphology, specifically in newly-born neurons in the hippocampus of adult animals, in different physiological and pathological conditions, such as in depression. This invention has applicability in the neurosciences field.
