摘要 PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing a surface-coated cutting tool is provided to obtain excellent wear resistance and extended life span by forming an aluminum oxide layer, which maintains strong adhesion to hard coating, on the outermost surface of a tool body. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing a surface-coated cutting tool with excellent wear resistance includes a step of coating the outermost surface of a tool body with an aluminum oxide layer of A alumina structure, which is formed with a sol-gel method. The sol-gel method comprises the steps of: adding alcohol to aluminum alcoxide, adding acid, and agitating the mixture at 10°C or below to produce sol, spreading the sol to the surface of the tool body or the outermost surface of hard coating formed on the tool body, drying the sol at 100-400°C, repeating the above process over one time, and implementing a plasticizing process in a temperature range of 500-1000°C.
