<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulator with reduced crosstalk in a high-frequency electric signal. <P>SOLUTION: The optical modulator includes: a substrate having an electro-optic effect; an optical waveguide including a Mach-Zehnder optical waveguide fabricated on the substrate for guiding light; and a traveling-wave electrode, which is formed on one surface of the substrate and comprises a plurality of center conductors and a plurality of grounding conductors for a high-frequency electric signal for applying a high-frequency electric signal to modulate light. A conductor is disposed upright on an upper face of the grounding conductor interposed by adjoining center conductors in the plurality of center conductors, so as to equivalently increase the height of the conductor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
