<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing supported ruthenium oxide excelling in thermal stability and catalyst life, and a method for stably producing chlorine over a long period of time using the supported ruthenium oxide obtained by the method. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing supported ruthenium oxide includes having a titania support supporting silica thereon support a ruthenium compound and an alkali metal compound, and then firing the same in an atmosphere of oxidizing gas. The supported ruthenium oxide produced by this method is used as a catalyst, and hydrogen chloride is oxidized with oxygen in the presence of this catalyst to produce chlorine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
