An improved structure for installing a chain plate of an electric chain saw has a machine shell body, a chain plate (2) arranged on the machine shell body, and a chain plate keeping mechanism arranged on the machine shell body for keeping the chain plate in stable state during installation. The chain plate keeping mechanism comprises a U-shaped elastic clamp (4) whose tail end (41) is mounted on the machine shell body. Outer flanges (43) are arranged at two ends of two elastic rods (42) of the elastic clamp. A longitudinal open long groove (21) is provided on the wall surface at the tail end of the chain plate for clamping the elastic clamp. A user can install the end cover of an electric chain saw without supporting the chain plate and the chain by using the structure, thus enabling the chain plate and the chain to be installed easily. The structure provides a user great convenience and comfort while installing the chain plate and the chain.
