Process for cladding an electrode for an electrochemical generator comprising a metallic porous support (1) of foam type filled with active matter, characterised in that a separator layer (2, 3) based on nonwoven polyolefin fibres, with a diameter of less than 5 micrometres, is arranged on both sides of the said support and in that the assembly thus obtained is compressed so as to obtain the adhesive bonding of the separator layers over the whole surface of the said support.
