摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of determining a tuning parameter for a process controller in a process control system. <P>SOLUTION: The response of a process control loop is simulated, and overshoot, vibration, and a reply time or the like are displayed (step 120), and a robustness map as a characteristic diagram showing robust characteristics is generated (step 130), and plotted (step 132). Since the robustness map is displayed for showing a stable area to a user, the user selects a point in the stable area on the robustness map. Thus, a set of new tuning parameters for generating a control loop having the selected robust characteristics is determined (step 136). Furthermore, the control loop is simulated by using those new tuning parameters (step 138).
